We used to think ... but now we know ...
OK, Here is a good one. Turns out trees are bad for the planet and pollution is good. The article reminded me of the song by the band Rush, called ‘The Trees”.
Overall, there is a problem with science. There is always an assurance that today’s understanding is right on – while yesterday we were confused. Think about it. Didn’t they say that yesterday as well? Won’t they find out tomorrow that what they are telling us today is wrong? I call the “We used to think … but now we know …” syndrome.

I read an article in Am Spectator a couple of years ago that discussed the notion that a little bit of poison is a good thing (e.g., a little bit of vitamin E is essential even though a lot will kill you). They took the basic premise and extended it to other chemicals/environmental influences (what about zinc, radiation, PCBs). Very interesting. I wish I could remember the name for it. Of course the concept is not accepted by the mainstream "global warming" media. But it has some good scientific backing nonetheless.
